An old axiom of writers is “Write what you know.”

I take a slightly different approach. I write what I want to know. To me, the fun of writing a feature article is doing the research.

Curiosity about our old house, led to a series of articles about historic neighborhoods. When my military husband deployed to the desert, I wondered how other families cope with deployment, which became the basis for two articles. As I struggled with the isolation of being at home with two small children, I wanted to find an outlet and I discovered and wrote about Mother Support Groups.

By answering my own questions and satisfying my own curiosity, I can then share my new knowledge with others through articles.

My feature articles have appeared in American Bungalow, Macon Magazine, Military Spouses, and Georgia Family.
